Preorder FAQ

Preorder FAQ

We know preordering a limited-edition collectible is a commitment, and we want you to feel completely confident before you check out. Here's everything you need to know about how preorders work at More Than Diecast.

How do preorders work?

When you place a preorder, you're reserving your item before it ships from the manufacturer. Limited-edition releases — like Mini GT and M2 Machines drops — are produced in fixed quantities, and preorders are the only way to guarantee your piece before it sells out. Your spot in line is locked the moment your order is placed.

When will my preorder ship?

Each preorder listing includes an estimated release window (e.g., "Estimated release: Q4 2026 — subject to change by manufacturer"). These ETAs come directly from the manufacturer and can shift due to production or logistics delays outside our control. We update listings as soon as we receive new information, and we'll notify you by email if your order's timeline changes significantly.

Am I charged now or when my order ships?

Your payment is collected in full at the time you place your preorder. This is how we secure your allocation from the manufacturer and hold your spot. We do not offer split billing or charge-at-ship options at this time.

Can I cancel or get a refund on a preorder?

We understand plans change. Preorder cancellations are accepted within 7 days of your original order date, provided the item has not yet shipped. After that window, preorders are considered final sale because your allocation has already been committed with the manufacturer. If you have a special circumstance, please reach out to us — we'll do our best to help.

Once an item ships, our standard return policy applies: items must be returned in original, unopened condition within 14 days of delivery.

What carriers do you use, and how long does shipping take?

We ship via USPS, UPS, and FedEx depending on package size, weight, and destination. Once your preorder is fulfilled, you'll receive a tracking number by email. Domestic orders typically arrive within 3–7 business days of shipment. We are not responsible for carrier delays once a package is in transit, but we'll always work with you to resolve issues.

What if my item arrives damaged?

We take packaging seriously — every order is packed to protect your collectible in transit. If your item arrives with a damaged blister, cracked card, or any shipping-related defect, please contact us within 48 hours of delivery with your order number and clear photos of the damage. We'll make it right.

Please note: minor card or blister imperfections that fall within manufacturer tolerances (e.g., slight card bends from factory packaging) are not considered defects, as these are inherent to mass-produced collectibles.

How are chase and RLC items handled?

Chase and RLC variants are allocated randomly from manufacturer cases — we cannot guarantee a specific chase ratio or reserve chase pieces from preorders. When a chase is pulled from your allocation, it will be noted on your packing slip and included in your shipment. All chase cars ship with a Sterling Protector Mainline Model 17201 case included.
