Hot Wheels Treasure Hunt Guide — How to Find Them & What They're Worth
Every Hot Wheels collector knows the thrill of finding a Treasure Hunt. But if you're new to the hobby, you might be wondering — what exactly is a Treasure Hunt, and why does everyone go crazy for them?
Regular Treasure Hunt vs. Super Treasure Hunt
Hot Wheels releases two tiers of Treasure Hunts each year. Regular Treasure Hunts (TH) feature a flame logo and are slightly harder to find than standard castings. Super Treasure Hunts (STH) take it further — they feature Spectraflame paint, Real Rider rubber tires, and are produced in much smaller quantities, making them the holy grail for collectors.
How to Spot One
Look for the flame symbol on the card or the "TH" designation in the series number. Super Treasure Hunts will also have the Spectraflame finish — a deep, metallic paint that looks nothing like standard Hot Wheels paint jobs.
What Are They Worth?
Regular THs typically sell for $2–$10 above retail. Super Treasure Hunts can fetch anywhere from $20 to $100+ depending on the casting and condition. Keeping them in a Sterling Protector case preserves their value significantly.
Where to Find Them
Retail hunting is part of the fun, but ordering cases is the most reliable way to pull Treasure Hunts. Each case has a set assortment — and we list exactly what's included so you know what you're getting at More Than Diecast.
