Hot Wheels Treasure Hunts — What They Are & Where to Find Them
Share
If you've spent any time in the die-cast hobby, you've heard the term Treasure Hunt. These are some of the most sought-after releases in the Hot Wheels lineup — and for good reason. Whether you're a seasoned collector or just getting started, understanding what makes a Treasure Hunt special can completely change how you shop.
What Is a Hot Wheels Treasure Hunt?
Hot Wheels releases two tiers of Treasure Hunts each year: the standard Treasure Hunt (TH) and the Super Treasure Hunt (STH). Standard THs feature a subtle flame logo and a Spectraflame paint finish. Super Treasure Hunts go further — real rubber tires, premium Spectraflame paint, and extremely limited production numbers. Both are packed randomly into cases, making them genuinely hard to find at retail.

Why Collectors Love Them
The thrill of the hunt is real. Treasure Hunts are produced in far smaller quantities than regular mainline cars, and Super Treasure Hunts can carry significant secondary market value. Collectors track case codes, watch for restocks, and move fast when they spot one. At More Than Diecast, we do the hunting for you — every Treasure Hunt in our store is verified and accurately described.
